I didn't know that the Japanese surrender on Mindanao was at Malaybalay - which is where the final Japanese contingent was cornered.

The ceremonies were at Camp Casisang. Our place is in Barangay Casisang, on a hill just above the camp.
And of course, the Sayre HIghway is the road we take to Cagayan de Oro and down toward the turnoff to Davao; so we travel up and down this highway frequently in both directions. The 1945 pictures look so familiar.
