I didn't know that the Japanese surrender on Mindanao was at Malaybalay - which is where the final Japanese contingent was cornered.
Pork chops, rice, seaweed salad, a banana for desert. But that oversimplifies it.
I was up at the property a couple of weeks ago, just having returned from Manila and wanted to see the "payag" Jenny had finished. It was dark so I couldn't get pictures outside, but here are some taken inside.
Here's a set of photos taken some time ago on and around the property before we purchased it. It was taken with my cellphone camera, which at the time was not a very good camera. Mostly I was trying to capture the view of the far mountains - that were beautiful. But that doesn't come out at all hardly in the pictures. Still, they give you an idea of the surroundings.
I originally posted this from my cellphone - to see if I could. I forgot to attach a description. This is a little restaurant not too far from the house - but too far for me to walk. I had the taxi let me off here coming back from a meeting in Manila so I could have an early dinner before going home. It's a nice little open air restaurant.
I had a half fried chicken, some Chinese broccoli (I can't begin to describe what this is like - but it's not at all like our broccoli, except that it is green) in oyster sauce, rice, a beer, and finished with a glass of red wine for dessert. About $10, which frankly is a little expensive for me. I usually spend a lot less.
I then grabbed a trycycle (you know the little motorcycles with a side car) to go home - about a 20 cent ride.
Jenny's got some photos up at Flickr of her and Kelly in Liege - taken near Juvy's apartment I believe, which is near the waterfront.
And here are some pictures Juvy put up on her own weblog.
Flip through these morning-after news headlines to get a taste of what goes on in the Philippines during elections.
Here's my office area at the U.P. Village apartment. Simple but functional.
Only real issue is no aircon. And when the whole family is here, it's a pretty useless area to work in; but I can barricade myself in the bedroom where it's cool and quiet on those occasions.
